Well it’s that time of year again and we can’t think of a better way to celebrate than with an arrangement from the master himself, Chuck Leavell. Joy Boogie is a joyful and explosive boogie-woogie version of the traditional Christmas classic, Joy to the World.
Chuck originally recorded Joy Boogie along with 12 other holiday classics as a Christmas gift for his friends and family. The CD, What’s In That Bag, was released commercially in 1997 and it is a combination of Christmas cheer, passion, spirit, and keyboard mastery. Chuck produced the album with friend and former Capricorn Records heavyweight, Johnny Sandlin, and gathered an all star team of musicians including Rolling Stones’ bandmates, Bobby Keys ( sax) and Lisa Fischer ( vocals). The album is mosaic of piano styles covering jazz, classical, blues, funk, New Orleans jazz, pop, and boogie woogie.
There are few people who can match Chuck’s musical chops but we’ve done our best to turn this joyous piano celebration into a lesson that can be enjoyed by everyone; beginners through our most advanced piano students. It’s got boogie woogie, it’s got blues, and it totally rocks. We can’t think of a better way to learn piano. Happy Holidays from Chuck and the irocku team!

I’m enjoying the lessons immensely but I have a query. Can you tell me what runs your pianist does at the end of Joy boogie and hey now,
They’re shown on the preview lesson but on the purchased ones they just end on the seventh chords mostly.
Collin is just arpeggiating the dominant seventh chords up and down the keyboard. For Joy Boogie he uses G7 and for Hey Now he uses C7. You can go to the “Tools & Resources” to find the chords.
This will bring holiday joy to everyone who listens to it.
The rolls in this song are really challenging, that’s why I like it.
