Learn how to play a Gospel Piano Rhythm
This video teaches a basic gospel progression (I, IV) in the key of Eb. It’s based on a swung 3 beats to the measure rhythm. The lesson highlights left-hand walk ups, right-hand octaves, alternating between the I and IV chord which is fundamental to the gospel feel.

Beginner:
Play the chords in the first inversions in your right hand. Play the root of each chord in your left hand.
Intermediate:
Play the chords in all inversions in your right hand. Experiment with left hand bass lines using the notes of each chord.
Advanced:
Experiment by improvising using different scales in the right hand. The Eb mixolydian scale a great scale to work with.
